In a day and age where Toronto is thrust onto an international stage because of social media and the rise of the music scene in the city, I want to be part of the next generation of young creatives that pushes Toronto’s visual work forward for the world to see.
Growing up, I didn’t always feel beautiful because I saw certain kinds of people, faces and bodies in the media that looked nothing like me. As I come into my own, I’ve realized that it is such a selective few that gets to dictate what “beauty” is and how corporations thrive on the idea that people have to change themselves to feel beautiful.
However, I genuinely think that there’s so much beauty in people, period, regardless of these norms. I want to create work that sheds light on the voices and identities of other people that have felt ugly because they didn’t fit into the norms that society thrust on them.
You deserve to feel beautiful for who you are, the feelings that you feel and the person that you’re becoming.
Part of my creative approach is thinking about how to recognize and represent intimacy in an honest way. It’s a question that I don’t think I’ll ever have one definitive answer to, but I want to keep at it. With my empathy for others, I want to use that to create spaces where people feel safe to be present with whatever emotions they’re feeling and that creates truthful work.
All of this info helps for the pre-planning process so that the shoot goes smoothly + we get what you’re looking for.
We can talk about any info from the form together as well as my rates for the project. We can bounce ideas off each other here too.
When all of this comes together, we solidify the deets of our shoot + do the damn thing.
It takes a sec for the film to get developed and I I’ll send them to you to choose selects after that. Deadline for deliverables will be within two weeks of you choosing selects.
