“I’m good at working with my hands and my best flow states come with a paintbrush or thread in my fingers. My friends often joke that if I lived in the renaissance, my work would be the same as it is today - creating/crafting pieces for patrons of the arts.
My first love is drawing and painting, but more recently I’ve been very immersed in embroidery and beading. Communicating with thread is fascinating to me - it’s a very laborious practice that requires a lot of time to become proficient at the techniques to be able to communicate an idea. I love the challenge of learning a new medium, I find myself constantly experimenting with the tools in my arsenal - sometimes a piece needs a certain medium or combination of, and the more I have to work with the better. My creativity flourishes when I accept that I can be pretty good at a lot of things, and I don’t need to find an exact niche of something to be amazing at.”
